Odoo Consultant
About this role
Youâll lead Odoo implementations for mid-market clients, most often companies migrating off QuickBooks, off legacy ERP, or off a tangled stack of disconnected SaaS tools. Some engagements are net-new implementations; others are remediation on Odoo deployments where the original setup didnât hold.
This role spans both implementation and configuration. Youâll do the functional consulting, youâll configure Odoo, and youâll partner with developers when customization is required. Most of our engagements stay within standard Odoo modules. Weâre not in the business of building exotic customizations that nobody can maintain.
What youâll do
- Run discovery for Odoo engagements: chart of accounts setup, fiscal localization, tax configuration, multi-entity structure, valuation methodology, cost flow design
- Configure standard Odoo modules (Accounting, CRM, Inventory, Purchase, Sales, Projects, Manufacturing, HR) based on the clientâs operational reality, not a template
- Lead data migration: chart of accounts, customers, vendors, products, opening balances, historical detail (where appropriate)
- Train client teams to operate Odoo after we leave, including their accounting team, their operations team, and their power users
- Partner with developers when customization is genuinely required, and be the one to push back when it isnât
- Diagnose existing Odoo deployments that arenât working and produce structured remediation plans
Who this is for
Youâve implemented Odoo for real companies, end-to-end. You understand the foundational decisions (fiscal localization, lock dates, costing methods, multi-company architecture) that are expensive to change later. Youâve made them yourself and seen what happens when others get them wrong.
Youâre as comfortable with the accounting side as the operational side. You can talk to a CFO about close cycles and a warehouse manager about pick lists in the same week.
You can tell a client they donât need a customization. Youâve watched implementations grow into nightmares because every workflow got rebuilt as custom code, and you have opinions about when thatâs the right call vs when itâs the lazy one.
Odoo certification is a plus but not a requirement. Real implementation history matters more.
What you wonât do
- Build customizations the client canât maintain
- Pretend Odoo can do things it canât
- Hand off an implementation without training the client to run it
Compensation
Competitive. We discuss the range early in the process.
